FACADE MINI-GRANT PROGRAM

$2500 allotted for no less than FIVE grants of up to $500 each for facade renewal

 

GRANT REGULATIONS:

Business Limitations

  • Applicant must be a current paid merchant-level member of the WDDA ($50)
  • Must be in business for no less than 3 months.
  • Must be open at least 5 hours on Saturday
  • Applications limited to business or building owners.  If applicant does not own building, he or she must have the approval of the building owner
  • Limited to the retail or tourism industry.
  • Must be located inside the Town of Winnsboro limits.
  • Applicant must sign a contract with WDDA guaranteeing completion within 60 days or 2 months of approval*
  • Grant applications received during any one month will be evaluated during the last week of that month until the current funding allocation has been exhausted.

 

Design Limitations

  • Grant may only he used to improve visible facade to include building front, display windows, signage, lighting, landscaping, etc.
  • All designs must be approved* by the WDDA.
  • All improvements must comply with town/county building, zoning, and other applicable codes or ordinances
  • When at all possible, all materials should be obtained from a downtown merchant.

 

Financial Limitations

  • All eligible businesses may apply for up to $500. A match of funds is required either in cash, sweat equity, or a combination of the two
  • Budget must be approved* by WDDA
  • Reimbursement will be provided upon completion of project and documentation of expenses (receipts)
  • If applicant cannot afford initail purchases, direct purchase by WDDA instead of reimbursement will be approved* on a case-by-case basis.

  • There are no application forms.
  • To apply, please send a letter with your name and contact information and a complete description of your improvement plans. Please include any color samples, swatches, or drawings, rental agreement (if applicable), and detailed budget. Make sure that your budget lists where supplies will be bought (downtown merchants, when possible). Please include a photograph of the building.  Send all information, to WDDA, P.O. Box 492, Winnsboro, SC 29180 or hand-deliver to 110 S. Vanderhorst Street.

 

* Approval of all applications, designs, and/or budgets, etc. are at the discretion of the WDDA. The WDDA is a 501 (c) 3 corporation. Decisions of the WDDA are final and there is no higher authority to which to appeal.


FOOD SERVICE FACADE GRANT PROGRAM

$2000 allotted for no less than two grants of up to $1000 each for facade renewal

 

GRANT REGULATIONS:

  • Must be open at least 5 hours on Saturday for lunch
  • Applications limited to business or building owners.  If applicant does not own building, he or she must have the approval of the building owner
  • Limited to the eat-in food service industry in Downtown Winnsboro
  • Applicant must sign a contract with WDDA guaranteeing completion within 150 days (or five months) of approval*
  • Grant applications received during any one month will be evaluated during the last week of that month until the current funding allocation has been exhausted.

 

Design Limitations

  • Grant may only he used to improve visible facade to include building front, display windows, signage, lighting, landscaping, etc.
  • All designs must be approved* by the WDDA.
  • All improvements must comply with town/county building, zoning, and other applicable codes or ordinances
  • When at all possible, all materials should be obtained from a downtown merchant.

 

Financial Limitations

  • All eligible businesses may apply for up to $1000. New businesses (under 3 months) or perspective businesses must match 100% with cash. Existing businesses may match 50% with cash, sweat equity, or in-kind donation. For example, If an existing business applies for the full $1000, the applicant would have to spend at least an additional $500 on improvements in cash, gather $500 of in-kind donations, provide 50 hours of sweat equity, or find volunteers to provide at least 50 hours of labor.
  • Business plan and copy of the rental agreement (or proof of ownership) must be provided by all perspective or new businesses and must be approved by WDDA. Financial details on rental agreement or proof of ownership may be blacked out.
  • Reimbursement for a prospective business will not occur until after opening day. If necessary, WDDA will consider direct purchase of supplies in lieu of reimbursement on a case-by-case basis.
